The Green shirts took advantage of South Africa's error against the Netherlands by chasing down Bangladesh's 128-run total with five wickets remaining and making it to the tournament's last four at their opponent's expense. Bangladesh, who elected to bat first, reached 127/8 from their 20 overs partly as a result of Najmul Hossain Shanto's 54 off 48 balls. With the help of Shaheen Afridi's 4/22, Shadab Khan's 2/30, and individual efforts from Haris Rauf and Iftikhar Ahmed, Pakistan was able to restrict their batsmen to a score below par.
In response, Pakistan, despite Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan not playing at their best depended on luck to put 57 runs on the board for the opening partnership. Mohammad Haris once again gave Pakistan the boost with quickfire relief pressure before Shan Masood successfully guided Pakistan to victory after Haris, Mohammad Nawaz, and Iftikhar were all knocked out cheaply.
