Several athletes of Pakistan have been reported to have flu and high fever. Abdullah Shafique was quarantined in his Bangalore hotel room. Shaheen Shah Afridi, Saud Shakeel, and Zaman Khan are also out. However, it is thought that none of the players had dengue virus, which is widespread in areas of India this time of year, and held Indian batsman Shubman Gill out of the first two World Cup matches, as well as popular commentator Harsha Bhogle.

According to Pakistani officials, the players do not have a viral illness and are all healing. As per the officials’ statement, "The players who were suffering from fever have either recovered or are in the process of recovering, we expect all of them to be available for Friday's game.” With the World Cup match against Australia in just a few days, the players have to make a big impact after their loss by 7 wickets against India.
