Pat Cummins earned a unique record during the IPL 2024 Qualifier 1

Pat Cummins, the skipper of Sunrisers Hyderabad, set a historic record against Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2024 Qualifier 1. Cummins batted ninth and scored thirty runs. He did this to shatter Ramesh Powar's record for the greatest individual score in an IPL playoff game while he was ranked nine or lower.

In the second semifinal of the 2008 season, Powar hit an undefeated 28 to assist Kings XI Punjab (now known as Punjab Kings) defeat Chennai Super Kings 112/8. Punjab lost that match, falling to 63/7. Powar then batted at number nine and smashed four fours on route to scoring 28 runs off of 21 deliveries. Pat Cummins ultimately smashed the record Sunday night at the Narendra Modi Stadium, after it had held for 16 years. In addition, he batted at position nine and finished with 30 runs off of 24 deliveries.
