Even after losing Virat Kohli to run out India still managed to stay in the lead of 62 runs in Test 1 against Australia. Kohli posted his second slowest Test half-century and a lackluster performance by Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane was also seen. But Australians were not far behind in the day-night cricket match Matthew Wade posted 8 runs off 51 balls Joe Burns ended at 8 from 41 while Steve Smith was 1 from 29.
Indian bowling got the best of Australia but a charming performance by Marnus Labuschagne and Tim Paine carried the team to a respectable finish despite the three-wicket hole created by Ravi Ashwin in their batting lineup and Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami also had a field day doing their best to contain Australia.
