The last time Navdeep Saini played for India was in the R. Premadasa Stadium against Sri Lanka in 2021. In preparation for the next series against Sri Lanka, India will introduce a revamped team led by new head coach Gautam Gambhir. The former cricket player succeeded Rahul Dravid, who stepped down after leading India to victory in the ICC T20 World Cup. Prior to the T20 World Cup, Dravid had declared that leading the squad captained by Rohit Sharma would be his last job.
Bharadwaj claims that Gambhir may think about re-adding pacer Navdeep Saini and spinner Kuldeep Yadav to the Indian team. "In the Indian team structure, he could choose guys like Navdeep Saini and Kuldeep Yadav. They belong to him, Bharadwaj stated to PTI. Throughout his career, Gambhir has demonstrated his ability to recognize potential; in the 2024 Indian Premier League, for example, his intuition on West Indian all-rounder Sunil Narine.
