Punjab Kings took down Delhi Capitals by 4 wickets

Punjab Kings hosted the Delhi Capitals in the inaugural game at the brand-new stadium in Mullanpur. Shikhar Dhawan’s side defeated Delhi by 4 wickets to start their season on a positive note. Dhawan hit a quickfire 22 off 16 after returning to play after a year-long hiatus.

Making a return to competitive cricket since the IPL finals last year. Dhawan hasn't played for India since December 2022 and hasn't appeared in any local competitions. The left-handed opener, meanwhile, did not appear to be rusty as he blasted four boundaries to give Punjab Kings a good start in their successful pursuit of 175. Sam Curran's 47-ball 63 and Liam Livingstone's undefeated 38 helped Punjab Kings cross the finish line and denied Rishabh Pant a victory on his first game after 15 months. On Monday, March 25, Punjab Kings will make the trip to Bengaluru with a lot of optimism ahead of their next matchup against RCB.
