Rain put a damper on the exciting World Test Championship final

The highly anticipated inaugural World Test Championship final in Southampton has been delayed due to heavy rain. The one-off test match has just one reserve day in place while more rain is forecasted for the next five days. The final match between India and New Zealand was scheduled to start at 10:30 am but the persistent rain has kept both the teams off the field as they compete for £1.135million in prize money.

If heavy downpour continues a draw the most likely outcome of the match, and the two finalists would then share the mace and split the prize money equally. New Zealand’s team has come into the final after beating England 1-0 recently while India has not played a test match for months. The last time both the teams met, New Zealand ended up dominating the show picking up the victory in two test match giants India in 2020.
