Former India batsman has officially declared his retirement from all forms of cricket, a prompt move that ensures his eligibility for playing in overseas T20 leagues.
"It has been an absolute honour to represent my country & state UP. I would like to announce my retirement from all formats of cricket," Raina stated online.
Since a current Indian or domestic cricketer can't take part in overseas leagues, Raina was required to take this step for him to scout the prospect of T20 leagues around the world. He is said to be participating in Cricket South Africa's new T20 league, to be held in 2023, with all six teams owned by IPL franchises, including CSK. Raina appeared in his last competitive game in October 2021 where he was a part of CSK against Rajasthan Royals in UAE.
