On the third day of the fourth Test against England at the Oval, Rohit Sharma reached a key career milestone by scoring his maiden Test century away from home, his eighth overall. Rohit has taken his batting in Test cricket to a new level since being elevated to Test opener in late 2019 during a home series against South Africa. However, an overseas hundred, which is typically seen as a benchmark for top-level batsmen, escaped him.
It took a bit for Rohit to reach that level, but when he did, he did so in style. Off off-spinner Moeen Ali, Rohit played his trademark broad swipe over the line, and it sailed over long-on for a six. That shot and the manner in which he achieved the century reminded me of Virender Sehwag.
