Rohit Sharma is now the second Indian to score 12,000 T20 runs

During Wednesday's Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match between the Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad, India captain Rohit Sharma became the second Indian cricket player to amass 12,000 T20 runs. Rohit, who needed 12 runs to join the elite club prior to the game, scored a scorching 70 from 46 balls in his 466th T20 encounter to surpass the milestone. He is one of just two Indian players to reach 12,000 T20 runs, along with Virat Kohli.

The 36-year-old opener has eight hundreds to his credit and presently averages 30.81 in the format. Globally, Rohit is the eighth player to achieve the feat and the fifth fastest in terms of innings played. The list is led by West Indies’ Chris Gayle, followed by Kohli and Australia’s David Warner.
