Royals release Stokes, Archer from the IPL squad

IPL team Rajasthan Royals released their list of the retained players and England stars Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer were not on that list. Royals retained skipper Sanju Samson and England batsman Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal ahead of the 2022 edition and would form the backbone of the team. From Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad, England's Eoin Morgan and David Warner of Australia have also been released by their respective franchises as the teams gear up for the 10 teams IPL season in 2022.

Hyderabad has retained Kane Williamson for $1.86m, and he might be asked to be the new captain after Warner’s departure. Virat Kohli will stay at Royal Challengers Bangalore and will have Glenn Maxwell and Mohammed Siraj alongside him. Rohit Sharma (Mumbai Indians) Ravindra Jadeja (Chennai Super Kings) and Rishabh Pant (Delhi Capitals) have been retained for $2.13m. The released players would be part of the auction that would take place in late December or early January.
