Pakistan's selectors rested a number of veteran players on Thursday, including former skipper Shoaib Malik and Sarfaraz Ahmed, for their limited-overs home series against the West Indies later this month. Fast bowler Hasan Ali and spinning allrounder Imad Wasim, in addition to Malik and Sarfaraz, would not be included in the Twenty20 and One-Day International squads.
Mohammad Wasim, the chief selector, stated that the players needed to rest. After missing the Twenty20 World Cup and a series in Bangladesh, young fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain returns to the squad. Pakistan will be captained by Babar Azam, with Shadab Khan serving as his vice-captain. West Indies will play three Twenty20 internationals (December 13, 14, and 16) in Karachi, followed by the same number of one-day internationals (December 18, 20, and 22).
