Several Indian Cricketers travel to UK as replacements

Suryakumar Yadav has received a call-up along with the opener Prithivi Shaw and batsman Devdutt Padikkal to travel to the UK as replacements. Since three Indian cricketers have been injured, these players will act as potential replacements. Jayant Yadav too is contention. In terms of Jayant, his superior batting ability earned him the nod because he has a Test century and will be a consistent net bowler until R Ashwin or Ravindra Jadeja sustain an injury during a long series. Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar, and Avesh Khan have been forced to leave the current tour. 

The Test series is scheduled to begin on August 4. While Gill was ruled out due to shin splints sustained in the World Test Championship final against New Zealand, Avesh dislocated a thumb during a warm-up game versus County XI. Washington's finger injury was worsened. The development was confirmed by a senior BCCI official.
