South Africa beat Pakistan by 1 wicket

There was finally a match in the 2023 World Cup that went right down to the wire. A fierce competition, an intense competition, and all points in between. Ultimately, in Chennai's M A Chidambaram Stadium, South Africa had managed to defeat a desperate Pakistan by one wicket, as Keshav Maharaj let out a guttural shout. Despite being choked, the Proteas managed to survive. The 41st over saw a dramatic change in the game as South Africa appeared content with their pursuit of 270.

To the dismay of its supporters, however, Aiden Markram, who had spearheaded the chase with an incredible 91 (93 balls), attempted a huge shot off leg-spinner Usama Mir and was given an advantage. The SA dressing room would have been rocked by his removal. To make it 250/8 in the following over, Shaheen Shah Afridi removed Gerald Coetzee with a wicket off the first ball.
