Dean Elgar enjoys a game-winning knock that helped South Africa level the Test series with India and keeps them starving for the maiden Test series win. With 96 not-out score, Elgar kept a Kohli-less India waiting for the win, as they secured a seven-wicket win, now both the teams would meet again for the decider match. India set up a score of 240 for Proteas, and Elgar battled for two whole days after rain ruined a few days at Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
India’s pace bowlers did their best to displace South Africa’s out-of-form batting order but Elgar stood tall helped the team reach their highest total of the series to win with 234 at the loss of 3 wickets. The left-handed batsmen did get help support from Rassie van der Dussen, with the 82-run stand between the two that laid the foundation for the win.
