The Test series between South Africa and India was concluded early with the hosts winning the series with 2-1 after fighting their way in the last two Test matches for an emphatic win. In the third and last decider match at Cape Town, first, they restricted India to a low score in both their sessions to set up a target of 212 to win on Day four. Keegan Petersen then patiently took South Africa to the finish line with his 72 from 166 balls in the first inning then 82 from 113 balls in the second.
Indian batters fell embarrassingly to the young pace duo of Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen who clinched seven wickets in the match and Proteas maintained control despite Rishabh Pant’s century to win the home series. Both the teams would now prepare for three ODI matches that would kick off on January 19 at Paarl.
