South Africa will not play in the Test series against Australia due to an injury

Stuurman strained his abdominal muscles over the weekend while participating in a four-day domestic event in South Africa. He could be absent for up to six weeks. Although the 30-year-old has only participated in two Test matches for his nation, it depletes South Africa's already extensive fast bowling supply, which also includes Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, and Kagiso Rabada.

Lizaad Williams, a fellow pacer who has played in two Test matches for South Africa and is 29 years old, has taken Stuurman's position in the 16-player team. Given that the two-Test superpowers are now tied for first place in the standings and have a strong chance of making it to the championship game at The Oval next year, the series against Australia will be important for both teams' chances in the World Test Championship.
