South African star Jonty Rhodes comments on Arshdeep Singh

India's T20 World Cup campaign ended with a semifinal loss to England in the 2022 edition. Jonty Rhodes, who managed Punjab Kings' fielding during his time as an IPL team's fielding coach, feels that while Arshdeep Singh has great potential, he cannot be compared to Wasim Akram, the all-time best bowler.

The 23-year-old left-arm pacer was one of the positives of India's T20 World Cup campaign that ended with a semifinal defeat to England. Arshdeep, who could swing the ball both ways, ended up as the team's leading wicket-taker, claiming 10 wickets from six games. Rhodes, who worked with Arshdeep during his stint as a Punjab Kings' fielding coach, believes that he has a great future. "He's someone who has great potential and a potential of having a great career. He might be compared to the players who played before them, that puts him under unnecessary pressure. He is someone who has great potential."
