South Africa’s incredible AB De Villiers retires from all format of cricket

South Africa’s great player AB de Villiers resigned from all types of cricket on Friday, by stating that the "flame no longer burns so brightly". The veteran batsman had quit playing internationals in 2018 itself but was a regular feature in the Indian Premier League playing alongside Bangalore colleague and chief Virat Kohli. The RCB skippers portray De Villiers as 'the best player of our times'. Even the ex-South African commander Graeme Smith called him "presumably the best player across every one of the three arrangements that I played with or against in my profession".

De Villiers in his career played 114 Tests, 228 ODIs, and 78 T20 internationals for South Africa, scoring in excess of 20,000 stumbles into the three formats. He even put in 10 years at Royal Challengers Bangalore but retires without having clinched the maiden trophy in IPL.
