Sri Lanka lost the first-ever bilateral ODI series to Bangladesh. Sri Lanka lacked enough experience to take on Bangladesh. In his first match as a captain, Kusal Perera could not lead the team to a win away from home after they finished 3-0 last time. Bangladesh took down Sri Lanka by 103 runs and Mushfiqur Rahim scored 125 runs, Mahmudullah was at 41 runs to take the 2-0 lead in the three-match series at Shere-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka.
