Sri Lanka overpowered Bangladesh in the Group 1 matchup

In the group 1 clash in Sharjah, Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by five wickets. The 2014 champions, had to thank Charith Asalanka’s undefeated knock of 80 and Bhanuka Rajapaksa’s half-century as the team successfully chased down the target of 172 runs.

This was the fourth successive win for Sri Lanka. First Bangladesh’s Mushfiqur Rahim and opener Mohammad Naim starred for the team posting an undefeated 57 and 62 runs respectively on the scoreboard to have a sizable target to chase. Liton Das had dropped the catches for both the player earlier and then was dismissed at 16 by Sri Lanka skipper Dasun Shanaka. Sri Lanka gets a good boost as they compete with England, Australia, South Africa, and West Indies in Group 2 for the top two spots.
