Suryakumar Yadav spills beans on tactic behind Rinku Singh bowling

Suryakumar Yadav surprised everyone by choosing Rinku Singh to bowl the crucial penultimate over against Sri Lanka in the third T20I on July 30. With India needing just nine runs in 12 balls and six wickets in hand, Rinku delivered an impressive performance, conceding only three runs and claiming two wickets. His efforts helped push the match to a Super Over, highlighting the significance of that over in the context of the game.

Suryakumar had other options, including Mohammed Siraj and Khaleel Ahmed, who both had overs remaining. However, he felt Rinku was better suited for the conditions. “The decision for the 20th over was easy; the difficult part was for the 19th over. I felt Rinku was better suited for that wicket because I have seen him bowling and made him practice a lot at the nets,” Suryakumar stated, reflecting on his decision. Ultimately, India triumphed in the Super Over, thanks to Washington Sundar's two wickets.
