T20 World Cup: Australia defeats Sri Lanka by 7 wickets

Sri Lanka’s top order collapsed against the bowling attack by Australia when the top three batters Kusal Janith Perera, Charith Asalanka and Bhanuka Rajapaksa could not score past 30 runs in the Super 12 match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Thursday. Sri Lanka was curtailed to 154 for 6 in the 20 overs and later Australia completed their chase in just 17 runs and won the match by 7 wickets.

Sri Lanka was asked to bat first and first saw of Pathum Nissanka at just 7 runs then Asalanka and Perera put on a 65-run second-wicket partnership off 43 balls than both the players fell quickly while Zampa’s 2 for 12 along with the unbeaten 16 runs got him the Player of the Match award as Australia’s David Warner posted 42-ball 69 and a good first wicket partnership with Aaron Finch got off Australia to a good start and Lankan bowlers did not pose much of a threat.
