The good and the bad omens for Bangladesh ahead of Kanpur Test

Bangladesh, headed by Najmul Hossain Shanto, will be looking to recover from a 280-run thumping they suffered in the first Test in Chennai last week when they take the field for their last World Test Championship match of the trip tomorrow at Green Park Stadium.

Bangladesh can take heart from the fact that several of their batsmen have recently fared better against spinners than their Indian counterparts in the longer format, despite the rumors that the Green Park stadium's surface will be anything but green. According to reports from Indian media outlets, the surface to be used in the second Test will have a covering of black soil, aiding spinners more. Only India batsman Rishabh Pant has performed better against spinners than any batter from Bangladesh in Test matches since 2022 when taking into account the middle and lower-middle order (from positions 4-8) in the two sides' batting lineup from the most recent Test in Chennai.
