With his 200th wicket in a one-day match, Black Caps bowler Tim Southee set a new record. Southee became the first player in the history of international cricket to claim 300 or more test wickets, 200 or more ODI victims, and 100 or more Twenty 20 victims on Friday at Eden Park, Auckland, when he bowled out Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan. In addition, Southee finished the innings with 202 after taking two more wickets in the final over to become the fifth male bowler from New Zealand to reach 200 ODI wickets.
The 33-year-old has collected 203 ODI wickets for New Zealand, trailing only Chris Harris (203), Kyle Mills (240), and Daniel Vettori (297), while Chris Cairns has taken 200. Only Sir Richard Hadlee (431) and Vettori (361) have more test wickets for New Zealand in the five-day format than Southee, who also leads the nation in T20 wickets with 134 dismissals.
