Mohammed Naveed and Shaiman Anwar received a eight-year ban from all forms of cricket after the players were found guilty of match-fixing attempts during the T20 World Cup qualifying tournament. Back in 2019, the players were found guilty of breaching the ICC anti-corruption code and were suspended. A verdict later has been changed after a hearing in the anti-corruption tribunal where the players were guilty on two charges.
Naveed was the country’s captain as well as the leading wicket-taker while Anwar was an opening batsman. They have served a long career at the international level and knew full well what their actions could result for match-fixing and still went ahead with the illegal activity.
