Defending champions kept their hopes alive after defeating Bangladesh by three runs in a last-ball thriller for their first win in the ICC Men’s T-20 World Cup. Bangladesh required 13 runs from the last over bowled by Andre Russell but just fell short on 139/5. Dwayne Bravo bowled the penultimate over and took the wicket of Bangladesh’s top scorer Liton Das.
Earlier a quickfire 40 from Nicholas Pooran helped West Indies to post a total of 142/7. Pooran and International T-20 debutant, Roston Chase made a partnership of 57 runs, Chase scored 39 runs.
West Indies former captain Jason Holder hit 2 sixes in the final over. The Bangladesh bowlers bowled exceptionally well earlier in the innings removing the out of form Chris Gayle for 4. Mahedi Hasan, Shoriful Islam, and Mustafizur Rahman took two wickets each.
