WI eye intriguing ODI series triumph

West Indies batsman Shamarh Brooks will be hoping to continue his new rich form into the second One Day International (ODI) against the Kane Williamson-led New Zealand when the groups meet in the second match in the series at Kensington Oval in Barbados today.

In the first ODI, which shockingly was Brooks' first at home, with a tasteful effort he drove the West Indies with a Man-of-the-Match 79 runs from 91 balls. Before the ODI, West Indies had nine straight losses in this format leaving no hopes of turning that around but the team ultimately turned things around and can hope to bag an unassailable lead in the series after the triumph in the present match. The last time the West Indies won an ODI series against a group positioned above them would be back in 2021 when they crushed Sri Lanka 3-0.
