WTC Winner would take home a prize of $2.24m

ICC World Test Championship final has announced humble prize money for the winner of the trophy as compared to other major trophy winners. ICC has revealed that the winner of the WTC final would take home $2.24m while the runner-ups would be awarded $1.12m. Though the amount seems generous but pales in comparison to other events.

The 2019 ODI World Cup winner England was awarded $5.6m and New Zealand took home half that amount. Even the winning team of the cash-rich Indian Premier League was set to score $4.2m in 2021, which is double of what ICC has announced for the upcoming final. New Zealand and India would be facing each other after a grueling two years of competition with eight other countries while a one-day competition of Fortnite World Cup an esports event, announced $4.2m as the prize in 2019. Though weather conditions are not optimum for the five-day event and if a draw occurs both the team would split overall prize money available.
