Alpine’s Franco Colapinto crashed during the second day of Pirelli’s 2026 tyre testing at the Hungaroring. Driving a modified A525 mule car, the Argentinian went off at Turn 11 in the final sector. Alpine confirmed Colapinto was assessed at the medical centre and is “OK.” The incident adds to a tough start for Colapinto, who has yet to score a point since replacing Jack Doohan at Imola.
He struggled to match team-mate Pierre Gasly and was initially given five races to prove himself. Meanwhile, Alpine reserve driver Paul Aron topped the timing charts with a 1:18.789s after completing 159 laps. McLaren’s Lando Norris and Racing Bulls’ Liam Lawson followed, both clocking 1:19.272s. The three teams were testing Pirelli’s prototype C3, C4, and C5 compounds as part of the ongoing development for the 2026 Formula 1 season.
