McLaren is reported to be up for criticism commenting on their MCL35M characteristics. The team’s racing director Andrea Stella says that the difficulties of the Formula 1 model are "typical" and not team-specific. The speculations started when Lando Norris’ team-mate Daniel Ricciardo had a hard time adapting after the winter switch to Alpine while the former stepped up his level in the driver’s standings.
Despite Ferrari’s instances with the Scuderia suited track configurations, Stella states the problems has common to all F1 teams. Asked for a clear explanation of McLaren’s extreme special characteristics, Stella referred to time with Ferrari where he facing similar problems. Overall, the Italian engineer struck down all the possibilities saying the difficulties for the car is McLaren specific explaining that focus on a straight line and high speed is conversely related to good aerodynamics in the middle of a corner.
