Mercedes’ upgrades in the British Grand Prix had an effect in Silverstone

Chief technical director of Mercedes, James Allison has revealed that the upgrade in the team’s floor and bargeboard just as they expected at the British Grand Prix, ended their losing streak with the victory of Lewis Hamilton at Silverstone. The two Austrian rounds for the defending champions were second best to Red Bull but they were able to fight with their rivals before the clash between Lewis Hamilton and Marx Verstappen on Sunday.

Mercedes was able to cut the gap from 44 points to 4 points to Red Bull in the Constructor’s Championship with Hamilton’s win and Bottas’ podium. Mercedes will not be bringing any more changes or upgrades to the W12 for the rest of the season but might tweak the car to enhance the performance without distracting from the big effort for the next year, says Allison.
