The 17-year-old starlet Andrea Kimi Antonelli shouldn't be given the Mercedes seat for the upcoming season since she isn't ready to take Lewis Hamilton's spot.
That's the word from former world champion Nico Rosberg, who has told Toto Wolff that it's "too early" for Antonelli to be given a drive with the Mercedes team. After Hamilton declared in February that he would be leaving Mercedes to join Ferrari prior to the 2025 season, Wolff is still looking for a successor. Antonelli is a longtime participant in Mercedes' young driver program and is rumored to be on their shortlist. Although Antonelli, who debuted in Formula 2 with Prema Racing earlier this year, has great promise, Rosberg feels the time is not yet perfect for him to go to Formula 1. He has brought up the possibility of spending a season with Williams, much like Mercedes star George Russell did.
