Inter Milan’s 2-0 loss to Liverpool in the first half of the last 16 stages in the UEFA Champions League became the final nail in the coffin as even with the 1-0 win they were eliminated from the tournament entirely. The Italian side even after being reduced to a 10 men's army took out the Premier League side on Tuesday at Anfield to deal an embarrassing loss to the side which managed to book a quarter-final berth on a 2-1 aggregate win.
The first half saw both the teams at their best but zero goals resulted after numerous attempts until the second half turned in the Italian side’s favor when Lautaro Martinez fired a shot in the top corner at 62nd minute to give the team a lead. But Alexis Sanchez’s dismissal hurt Inter’s chances of scoring another goal past a tactful Liverpool, who kept their overall lead intact for the rest of the night.
