8 big names missing out on FIFA World Cup 2022

It is difficult to think of a World Cup without a prominent absentee, but the sight of a player missing out with a late injury remains painful. France claimed their fourth World Cup title in 2018 without Laurent Koscielny, who suffered an Achilles injury in the lead-up to the tournament, while Dimitri Payet and Mohamed Salah also missed the tournament after limping out of the European Cup. Mohamed Salah had also been in danger of missing the tournament in Russia after his injury in that year's Champions League final, but he recovered just in time. Players who have more games to navigate at club level before heading out to the middle East are unlikely to miss the tournament, but some have already suffered setbacks that will keep them out of the tournament.

Paulo Dybala, Gini Wijnaldum, Kyle Walker, Reece James, Paul Pogba, Angel Di Maria, N'Golo Kante, and Diogo Jota are said to be missing out this tournament.
