The new European competition is being backed by the greats Liverpool and Manchester United, Fifa’s plan is to roll out a European Premier League featuring the best of the best clubs of the continent with $6bn (£4.6bn) funds at their disposal which will serve as a super league-style competition affecting all the other domestic leagues in general. The plan was turned down by 14 Premier League clubs but supported by the big six instead and many other teams hailing from Spanish La Liga, Italian Serie A, German Bundesliga, and French Ligue 1 have also supported the idea. The league could start in 2022 will be a round-robin tournament, thereafter the top placed team advance to the knockout stage. Such a league could mean the teams might be reduced in Premier League from 20 to 18 clubs with no League Cup and Community Shield games.
