Antoine Griezmann has returned to the Atletico Madrid on a permanent contract after Barcelona decided to lessen the transfer fee from €40 million to €20m. Barca president Joan Laporta disclosed recently that Atletico might also have to give up an additional €4m in "easily attainable add ons," with Griezmann saying yes to a contract until 2026 at the Metropolitano. Barca and Atletico had been indulged in a controversy over a clause in the contract that nmade Griezmann return to Atletico on loan at the beginning of the 2021-22 campaign.
Previously, Barca had claimed that clause started right after the first season of the loan, even warning with a legal action in the scenario if Atletico did not abide by it. Griezmann has participated with over 45 minutes in 30 of the 37 games he was present in 2021-22.
