New Napoli coach Antonio Conte is allegedly interested in bringing Milan misfit Alexis Saelemaekers to the Stadio Maradona for the next Serie A season after being impressed by his performances during his loan spell with Bologna in 2023–24. The 25-year-old Belgian arrived in Milan in the summer of 2020, but at the beginning of the 2023–24 season, Stefano Pioli's team had dropped him to the bench. After that, he was loaned to Bologna, where he made 30 league games and scored four goals.
After Thiago Motta's resignation and the subsequent hiring of Vincenzo Italiano, Bologna opted to reassess their options, even though they had contemplated making Saelemaekers's move permanent at the end of the 2023–24 season. Saelemaekers is back at base in Milan, and TMW reports that both Conte and Napoli are considering adding him as a cheap "wildcard" for the upcoming Serie A campaign.
