Finalists in the Premier League Granit Xhaka scored twice in what is likely to be his final game for Arsenal after a turbulent seven years at the club as they cruised to a 5-0 home victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday. For practically the whole season, Arsenal was in first place, but after a disastrous last eight games, merciless Manchester City roared past them to win the league for the third time in a row.
But they had a strong conclusion to the season. In his 297th and maybe final appearance for the Gunners, Xhaka of Switzerland headed in a cross from right winger Gabriel Jesus after 11 minutes for an early lead. Three minutes later, the 30-year-old, who was on the verge of quitting the club in 2019 after heated interactions with fans, tapped in as a result of some deft interception work by Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard.
