Arsenal is close to finalizing a move with AS Roma for Ainsley Maitland-Niles. Both sides have been negotiating for a while now and the deal could finally close in January. Maitland-Niles is ready to leave the Serie A giants and move a move to the Premier League side on a loan that could later be made permanent at the end of the season.
The midfielder would bolster Mikel Arteta’s squad, as of now no potential fee has been discussed for the versatile 24-year-old but rather the negotiations are more centered around a four-year contract instead. Arteta had shared in the summer transfer window earlier that that club would hold onto Maitland-Niles amid links to Everton. Maitland-Niles made five appearances for the club across all competitions in Granit Xhaka's absence and played alongside Thomas Partey.
