Aston Villa disappointed with 1-3 loss to Chelsea

Aston Villa faced Chelsea on the Boxing Day match and saw the team squander their 1-0 lead by allowing Thomas Tuchel’s side to concede thrice and win the match. Facing a shorthanded Blues, Villa had a good chance to walk away with all three points but the champions of Europe overcame their weakness and salvaged Reece James' own goal with Jorginho’s first penalty when Matty Cash brought down Callum Hudson-Odoi in the area.

Then Romelu Lukaku joined the Blues as a substitute to run amok and scored against Villa in the 56th minute to give Blues a lead with a header. Jorginho came back to score his second penalty to win by 3-1 at Villa Park. Brazilian international Douglas Luiz stated the turning point for Villa was the penalties that changed the game completely otherwise Villa took on the big team and showed them that they can fight.
