Atalanta beat Empoli 2-0

After defeating Empoli 2-0 on the road on Sunday, Atalanta took back second place in Serie A thanks to goals from defender Hans Hateboer and Ademola Lookman. After thirty-two minutes, Hateboer scored the first goal for the visitors when he reflexively whacked a loose ball from within the box into the net. Shortly after, Tyronne Ebuehi's shot after 34 minutes with a well-placed slide denied Empoli the chance to equalize.

Mattia Destro handled the ball to give Atalanta a penalty kick just before the half ended, but goalie Guglielmo Vicario stopped Teun Koopmeiners' effort with his legs. Nevertheless, Lookman increased the advantage in the 59th minute with a well placed inside-the-box shot that found its way past the keeper and both defenders and into the lower left corner. Second position with 27 points belongs to Gian Piero Gasperini's team, five points behind champions Napoli and one ahead of AC Milan, who play at Torino later on Sunday.
