Atletico Madrid dug in deeper to main their lead in the Spanish league with one more win added to their tally after they defeat Sevilla by 2-0. They enjoy their four-point comfortable lead over rivals Real Madrid with two more games in hand. Angel Correa gave them a lead in the 17th minute, working off a pass from Kieran Trippier in the box and landing a left-footed low shot in the net, later Saul Niguez came off the bench to increase their lead to two in the 76th minute with a low shot with Marcos Llorente’s assist.
This would be the fifth straight win for Diego Simeone's team who are challenging for the title for the first time after 2014. Sevilla is currently 6th on the table 11 points behind Atletico.
