Atletico Madrid won a seven-goal thriller against Getafe 4-3 at home thanks to a last-minute goal from substitute Mario Hermoso. Six goals and a failed penalty were scored in the first half until Hermoso, who had been brought on when Atletico defender Felipe was sent off in the second half, sent the Wanda Metropolitano into raptures and his team into fourth place in the table.
Within the first 10 minutes, Luis Suarez won the first of three first-half penalties, but Getafe goalkeeper David Soria saved his spot-kick. Nonetheless, Atletico appeared to be in command as Angel Correa and Matheus Cunha scored in the 27th minute to put them up 2-0. The reigning champions, on the other hand, fell behind following a frantic 15 minutes in which they gave up two penalties for handball.
