Augsburg took over Union Berlin 2-0

After just five minutes, Niko Gießelmann was given the freedom to head the game's first chance over, but Florian Niederlechner quickly responded, muscling his way through on only his second start since Matchday 6 before firing a low shot wide. Gregoritsch and Niederlechner proceeded to roll back the years with a combination that saw the latter get that little bit closer to finding the inside of the left-hand post before Gregoritsch showed how it should be done.

Andreas Luthe, the Union goalkeeper, made a reckless pass out of the back that was intercepted by the Augsburg attacker, who only had to turn and pick his spot to give Augsburg the lead. Augsburg came close to doubling their advantage when Gregoritsch's shot hit the crossbar, but they almost succumbed on the stroke of half-time when Gießelmann headed home from close range.
