Australia win over Denmark to qualify for last 16

Mathew Leckie’s stroke did magic for Australia as they defeated Denmark 1-0 to reach the round of 16 in FIFA World Cup 2022. Leckie goaled the winner on the hour with a brilliant run and finish to stopper Denmark’s Qatar desires at the group stage. Australia have now emerged victorious back-to-back in World Cup games for the first time. They advanced to the knockouts in second place behind holders France in Group D and will later line up against the winners of Group C.

European semifinalists Denmark, who had to secure a win in order to go through, were topping the early stages. Australian defender Milos Degenek refused an almost definite Denmark goal with a vital block. Australia were about to get on top when the first-half fell out to be goalless.
