Barcelona might go for pay cuts to ease financial crisis

Barcelona is prepared to take tough stances on player contracts in an attempt to control the club's financial predicament. La Blaugrana president Joan Laporta sorely has to balance the books in order to comply with La Liga's salary limit restrictions ahead of the start of the 2021/22 season, and in order to do so, will look to make revisions to certain players' contracts - players with 'high' incomes.

four players whose salary the club wishes to reduce because they are high earners. Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and Sergi Roberto are all on large money, and the club will try to propose salary improvements to them, taking into account the duration of their contracts remaining and prospective renewals. All four players have been loyal members of the club for many years.
