Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde summoned to join Spain’s World Cup squad

Barcelona’s youthful teen left-back Alejandro Balde has been asked to join Spain’s World Cup 2022 team to replace the injured Jose Luis Gaya. Gaya is ready to exit the camp after suffering an ankle injury and Balde will now fill in for his place. Balde had been a part of the Under-21s, who are due to face off against Japan in a friendly, but will now join hands with the senior team instead.

The transfer marks a pivotal career shift for Balde. The teenager has turned out to be an elementary player for Xavi’s men this season and has completed 14 appearances in all competitions. The teenager will witness many familiar faces when he comes aboard the Spain squad as there are a host of his Barca team-mates in Qatar already.
