Belgium outmatched Ronaldo and Portugal

Thorgan Hazard led Belgium to a win in the last 16 match against reigning champions Portugal on Sunday. Ronaldo and Portugal ended their Euro campaign early after being ousted with a 1-0 defeat. Belgium’s win though was shadowed by Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard’s injury on Monday as both the players would now head undergo scans to understand the extent of the injuries.

Knocking out the reigning champions means Belgium is through to the quarter-finals and would take on Italy next. Hazard's red hot strike before halftime put Belgium ahead early while Cristiano Ronaldo forced Thibaut Courtois to work hard but could not add to his five-goal tally of the tournament nor could he break the international goals record. He came close to the all-time record 110th international goal record with a dipping free-kick but it was saved by Courtois on the other side.
