Benzema strikes once again as Real Madrid rout defending champions

It would be a while before Chelsea would forget the name ‘Karim Benzema’ after the first leg hat trick that forced Chelsea to reconsider things. In the second leg Benzema once again stared for Real Madrid to sink a winner at Santiago Bernabeu after Blues looked imposing and made a comeback from a two-goal first-leg deficit.

Luka Modric first changed the momentum in their favor as Chelsea’s comeback looked stronger than ever in the enthralling Champions League quarter-final match-up. Before Mason Mount, Antonio Rudiger and Timo Werner scored for Blues to put them ahead on the aggregate. But Modric and Benzema’s beautiful contribution dragged Madrid to semi-finals as they hope to lift 14th European Cup. In the next stage, Real Madrid would either face Manchester City or rivals Atletico Madrid.
